I had my comprehensive eye exam today, and finally used some of the benefits from my insurance. I didn't think it would help help in any way from my usual annual appointment with my optometrist, but I only paid $40 for an exam and contacts when normally in this situation I would be paying $221. So, I guess it pays off to have insurance.

I need to keep a close eye on my eyes because my eye pressure is consistently getting higher each time I visit. My optometrist says that it can eventually lead to glaucoma, and there's nothing I can do to prevent it from happening until its too late. Kind of scary to hear those words come from your doctor.

I have decided from this point on to TRY to control things I can physically prevent. My family has a history of diabetes (gma, deceased), cataracts (brother, 19), high blood pressure (mother, estranged). My family is on here except for my father, who is in impeccable shape, he is one of those people who runs for fun, emphasis FOR FUN....

My father is another breed of human, he's 52 and still has a head full of dark raven hair, has a heart his doctor states is "of a 30 year old," and can still outrun his 2 children in the mile. I look at him with awe because he has seen a lot of heartache and pain in his life, but somehow finds the strength to work in the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. Its amazing how he's still going strong, but I know it won't last forever.

Anyways... till the next inspiration.
